About this opportunity
If you are a student at Toronto Metropolitan University looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity this summer, the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) Local Committee at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) offers students a chance to support refugee students while gaining valuable leadership, communication, and event-planning experience.
This committee is made up of student volunteers who help WUSC Scholars adjust to life at TMU and in Canada. These volunteers act as mentors and friends to new refugee students, helping them settle down in their new surroundings. There are several volunteer positions available, including Communications Leads, Events Assistant, Community Development Lead, Secretary, and Student Refugee Program (SRP) Transition Assistants. There are many unique roles to develop both professional and personal skills. For example, Communications Leads create social media content and promote events, while Events Assistants help organize activities that engage students with global issues.
This is not just a volunteer experience but an amazing opportunity to build friendships, help students overcome hardships, and create change in this campus community. The committee's recruitment typically takes place between April and late June each year. If you are passionate about supporting newcomers, WUSC could be the perfect place to get involved
