City of Toronto - The Live Green Toronto Volunteer Program

Do you care about the environment and want to make a difference in your community? The Live Green Toronto Volunteers program is a great opportunity. This City of Toronto program brings together people who are passionate about protecting the environment and educating others about climate action and sustainability.

As a volunteer, you will attend events across Toronto and share information about environmental programs, climate change, recycling, energy and water conservation, urban biodiversity, sustainable transportation, and more. Volunteers take part in over 100 events each year, including community festivals, street events, the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, and the National Home Show. It's a great way to meet new people, improve your communication skills, and explore different neighbourhoods across the city.

One of the best things about this opportunity is its flexibility. You can choose the events that fit your schedule. To stay active in the program, volunteers are expected to attend at least one event each year and complete the required training sessions. The training helps you build knowledge about environmental issues and gives you the confidence to speak with the public.

To apply, you must be at least 14 years old and live, work, or study in the City of Toronto. You should also enjoy working with people and have an interest in environmental issues. Speaking another language is an added benefit but is not required.

Applications are currently closed, but recruitment will open again in Fall 2026. You can sign up at the given link to receive an email notification when the next volunteer information session becomes available. If you're a university student looking to gain community experience while supporting a greener Toronto, this is a volunteer opportunity worth considering.
