There is no better opportunity than helping thousands of families fighting hunger! Daily Bread Food Bank offers an amazing way to help people facing food insecurity while also gaining valuable experience.

Daily Bread Food Bank is one of Toronto's largest organizations working to fight hunger. It collects and distributes food to food banks across the city while supporting thousands of individuals and families who need access to healthy food. They organize different volunteer opportunities such as adult, youth and group volunteer programs. It usually runs all year round, depending on their special events, with no specific deadlines.

There are many ways to get involved. Volunteers can help sort food, pick orders in the warehouse, prepare meals in the kitchen, support clients at the onsite food bank, or assist with administrative tasks. No previous experience is needed because training and orientation are provided before every volunteer starts.

Most volunteers must be at least 18 years old. However, schools and youth groups from Grades 6 to 12 can also participate in group volunteer opportunities, and some activities may count toward high school community service hours. Volunteer shifts are usually three hours long, with morning, afternoon, and some weekend options available.

To get started, create an account on Volunteer Hub and register for an online information session. If you would like to join one of the public Saturday food sorting events, you can sign up when registration opens without attending an information session. All volunteer opportunities take place at Daily Bread Food Bank's headquarters in South Etobicoke.

If you looking to build new skills, meet new connections and simply help the community, volunteering with Daily Bread Food Bank will be one of the rewarding ways!
