About this opportunity
If you are interested in cancer research, communication, and digital platforms, the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) has an amazing volunteer position. The Website Lead - Research Volunteer role with RIOT/CCS could be a great opportunity to use your skills while supporting an important cause.
RIOT chapters work to make complex cancer research easier for the public to understand. The program helps increase awareness of cancer research and gives Canadian researchers more visibility. It also supports public education and advocacy by sharing research in a simple, informative, and compassionate way.
As a Website Lead volunteer, you will help manage website content across 11 RIOT chapters. Your responsibilities may include updating the RIOT website regularly, reviewing materials, and making sure the language and tone follow Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) communication guidelines. You will also attend RIOT Chapter Lead meetings every other month and work with other website volunteers to share ideas and support each other.
This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys research communication, website management, and teamwork. The ideal volunteer should be reliable, organized, self-motivated, and able to meet deadlines. Ideally, candidates have at least one year of relevant research communications and website experience, or equivalent experience.
Volunteers will become part of a team of young researchers and connect with a national network focused on cancer research, advocacy, and outreach. You will also receive training and support while making a difference in the lives of people affected by cancer.
This volunteer role requires a minimum one-year commitment, with approximately 1–2 hours of work each week. This position typically starts every year in September. Visit the Canadian Cancer Society volunteer opportunities page, choose the role you are interested in, and submit your application with your resume. If you are passionate about cancer research and communication, this could be a meaningful way to use your skills and help make research more accessible to everyone.
